CARES® Dementia 5-Step Method™ Online Training & Certification
Objective: HealthCare Interactive seeks to partner with nursing facilities to apply for “Training” CMP grants to provide CARES® Dementia 5-Step Method™ Online Training and Certification to your staff.
Evidence-based, Award-winning, and Published: CARES® is evidence-based and stands out as the most awarded, researched, and academically published online dementia-care training available. Additionally, CARES is the only online dementia care training to have ever been recognized by CMS.
CARES® Dementia 5-Step Method™ Online Training and Certification: Each program incorporates the evidence-based CARES® Dementia 5-Step Method and utilizes actual video interviews, vignettes, and care footage as its primary instructional method (no actors). It incorporates interactive activities and “before and after” scenarios demonstrating how staff can respond to and help reduce resident behavior. The grant requires 15% of direct-care workers to be trained and certified over the 3-year grant period in each of the following programs (a total of 9 hours):
- CARES® Dementia 5-Step Method™ (Topics include person-centered care, an introduction to dementia, behavior as communication, and the CARES® Dementia 5-Step Method)
- CARES® Dementi-Related Behavior™ (Topics include using the CARES® 5-Step Method to respond to hitting, biting, kicking, screaming, swearing, public urination, with a respectful discussion of sexual behavior)
- CARES® Activities of Daily Living™ (Topics include focus on ADLs across all levels of thinking decline (early-stage to late-stage) in the care areas of eating, toileting, and more)
CMP Grant Details: This $18,000 CMP grant opportunity covers the entire cost of 3 years of single-site “unlimited use” of CARES®. There is no financial match, and all costs are covered.
Other Benefits: CARES® meets state dementia training requirements, is eligible for continuing education for admins, nurses, and other professionals, and is proven to reduce the use of antipsychotics, reduce resident behavior, and help decrease turnover and increase staff morale.
